 Frequently Asked Questions

What are the benefits of an Equinox® Louvered Roof system?

The Equinox® Louvered Roof system has been designed for both homeowners and business that want to maximize comfort and functionality of their outdoor living spaces year round. The louvers can be positioned to provide exact amount of protection and ventilation needed.

The Equinox® Louvered Roof system can withstand the elements year-round with low maintenance, offers shade or sunlight on demand, is waterproof when closed and can be remotely operated. Most importantly, the Equinox system is versatile enough to accommodate any architectural style to suit design and lifestyle needs.

The Equinox® Louvered Roof can block the sun’s powerful rays protecting expensive window coverings, carpets and furniture from fading and damage. In addition, the exterior walls of your home or business will be protected from solar heat gain helping to reduce your summer cooling costs.

Finally, the Equinox® Louvered Roof system is solar powered for the ultimate in energy efficiency, ease of operation and lasting durability.

How does an Equinox® Louvered Roof work?

An Equinox® Louvered Roof contains louver blades, which rotates in unison over a 160 degree range of motion activated by a small 12 volt DC motor. The louver blades have the ability to stop anywhere allowing an exact regulation of light, shade and ventilation desired.

The blades are controlled by either a single toggle switch or multiple toggle switches conveniently placed in the patio area or the remote control. Power to the system is provided by a small rechargeable battery through the use of a solar panel incorporated into the system or by a small transformer which plugs into an ordinary household 110v outlet.

The Equinox® Louvered Roof system can also be integrated with home automation systems allowing pre-programmed settings, times, moisture sensors, etc. When closed, the interlocking louver blades create a waterproof seal and a slight pitch drains the water away into the incorporated gutter and downspout system.

Where can I install the Equinox® Louvered Roof system?

The Equinox® Louvered Roof is ideally suited for use in all types of outdoor areas. Equinox® Louvered Roof units can be attached to existing residential or commercial structures; built free-standing; or incorporated into current solid roofs in a sky-light fashion.

Whether you have a gable or pitched roof, bay windows or doors, or an angled roof or walls, a system can be engineered to suit your design and lifestyle needs. Applications include patios, decks, spas, swimming pools, outdoor kitchens; BBQ areas, gazebos, courtyards, entryways and anywhere else convenient sun, light and weather control is desired.

Design possibilities are endless with multiple colors, materials, finishes and styles available. These include aluminum, steel, wood, stucco, paint, etc. Virtually any material and finish can be applied to achieve just the right look and feel for your project.

For privacy screening and wind protection, the Equinox® Louvered Roof system can be installed flat, pitched, gabled or vertically. Any shape or size outdoor space can be accommodated.

Do you provide a warranty on your Equinox® Louvered Roof product?

  • The louvers and all support components (beams, gutters and posts) are warranted for ten (10) years from the date of installation against defects in materials and workmanship under normal use and service.
  • The power components (motor, solar panel, link bar, electronic controls) are warranted for three (3) years (parts replacement only) from the date of installation. Batteries are excluded from this warranty.

Equinox® Louvered Roof systems are easy to maintain. Generally, normal rainfall is sufficient to keep its appearance clean. If cleaning is required, we recommend the following steps. Particular attention should be given to areas under eaves, porches, awnings, and other overhangs that have limited exposure to the natural cleansing effect of rainfall.

The product requires no technical maintenance.

Cleaning can be done at your own discretion, typically at the same intervals as you would pressure  wash or paint your deck or patio.
